Queen Mary Anne
Queens, New York
Queen Mary Anne Corporation comprises two 6-story buildings constructed circa 1953 in Jackson Heights. Each building has ten steel-framed fire escapes. The fire escape framing consists of steel members connected to steel spandrel beams embedded in the exterior wall. Concerns regarding deterioration observed with fire escape assemblies where corrosion was evident in the steel elements including platforms, railing systems, stair treads, and framing members jeopardized the integrity of the fire escape system as well as the building facade.
Lingineering was engaged to create a program to repair or replace deteriorated fire escape steel framing and supporting members. Lingineering’s program included special inspections, report, structural engineering and design, filing, and construction administration.
